This delicious muesli has been designed by Dr Sandra Cabot to provide a healthy enjoyable way to start your day. The combination of whole grains, nuts and seeds in this muesli gives you a first class protein, also known as a complete protein.

A complete protein provides all the essential amino acids that your body is unable to manufacture by itself. Your body needs these amino acids for efficient metabolism.

First class protein is a great dietary aid for those wanting to control their weight because it helps to stabilise the levels of insulin and sugar (glucose) in the blood. Many people with a weight problem have a chemical imbalance known as insulin resistance, which is also known as Syndrome X. This causes the blood levels of insulin to become too high, which promotes the storage of body fat. Insulin is a fat-storing hormone, so it’s important to avoid excessively high levels of insulin. Refined carbohydrates, especially sugar, will elevate blood sugar and insulin levels thus promoting weight gain.

The way you start your day is vitally important!
Dr Sandra Cabot’s muesli is unprocessed and thus high in fibre, which is beneficial for the bowels promoting a regular and cleansing bowel action. Fibre acts like an “intestinal broom” sweeping the walls of the colon clean and promoting regular elimination of wastes. Make sure you drink plenty of pure water every day to help the fibre do its job of cleansing the intestines.

Serving suggestions:
Pour over the muesli any of the following milks – skim milk, unsweetened soy milk, rice milk, oat milk, or almond milk. It is best to avoid milks that contain added sugar. For those who like a creamy texture, mix 2 tablespoons of canned coconut milk with 4 to 5 tablespoons of water, and pour over muesli.

You may also serve this muesli with fresh chopped fruits of any variety and yoghurt.

Rolled oats, ultra bran soy & linseed (wheat bran, malted wheat flour, wholemeal wheat flour, sugar, linola (linseed meal), soy isoflavone concentrate, corn starch (hi-maize), minerals (calcium, zinc), salt, vitamins (vitamin E, folate), natural colour 160b), oatbran, apricots (rice flour, preservative 220), almonds, pepitas, sunflower kernels, apple (preservatives 220, 223), sultanas (vegetable oil).

Contains soy, wheat and gluten. May contain traces of peanut.
